Routine examinations are done to ensure that we detect any small problems before they get worse and require more extensive treatment.

Diagnostic services

We use state of the art digital x-rays that only require 10% of the normal amount of radiation to produce crystal clear images. New intraoral cameras also give you, the patient the opportunity to have a dentist’s view of your teeth. The intraoral camera will also allow you to see the progress of treatment. With the Diagnodent Laser Pen we can detect early cavities that are not visible with conventional cavities.

Oral hygiene services

Good oral hygiene is very important in ensuring a healthy looking and smelling mouth. At Biodent we are passionate about dental education and this includes educating patient about correct and professional oral hygiene habits. We identify harmful habits and guide patients through the process of improving the health of the oral environment. We advise patients to come for professional cleanings and fluoride treatment on a regular basis to prevent gum infection (swollen, bleeding and smelly gums) as well as dental decay. As we all know prevention is better than cure.

Restorative dentistry

We are an amalgam-free practice, only using ceramic and composite (tooth coloured) filings. Old and leaking restorations are also replaced with new technologily advanced fillings.

Endodontics

Treatment or as more commonly revered as root canal treatment is one of the dental specialties, and deals with the tooth pulp and the tissues surrounding the root of a tooth. We perform a variety of procedures including endodontic therapy, endodontic retreatment, surgery, treating cracked teeth, and treating dental trauma. Root canal therapy is one of the most common procedures. If the pulp (containing nerves, arterioles, venules and lymphatic tissue) becomes diseased or injured, endodontic treatment is required to save the tooth.

Dentures

Also known as false teeth, are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth, and which are supported by surrounding soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity. Conventional dentures are removable, however there are many different denture designs, some which rely on bonding or clasping onto teeth or dental implants.

Crowns

Crowns are synthetic caps, usually made of a material like porcelain, placed on the top of a tooth. Crowns are typically used to restore a tooth’s function and appearance following a restorative procedure such as a root canal. When decay in a tooth has become so advanced that large portions of the tooth must be removed, crowns are often used to restore the tooth.

Implants

Are synthetic structures that are placed in the area of the tooth normally occupied by the root. Implants are anchored to the jawbone or metal framework on the bone and act as a foundation for an artificial tooth or permanent bridge. In some cases, implants can be used to attach dentures.
